If you work in an office that follows these guidelines, you will be able to easily adapt your wardrobe to a new position or company if you ever need to switch careers.

Blazers: Whether you wear it as a jacket or a layer, a blazer in black, grey, or tan is a must-have.

Pants: You should have several well-tailored pairs of pants in your closet, including some with a wide leg, slim fit, and cropped length.

Skirts: Minimally revealing skirts (knee-length or shorter)

Blouses: Have a wide range of options in solid colors, patterns, and fabrics to maximize your wardrobe's potential for variety. While wearing bright colors to the office isn't always frowned upon, it's still a good idea to mix in some neutrals like black, white, and tan. Before wearing a top with short sleeves or no sleeves at all to work, make sure you know the company's policy on such attire.

Sweaters: Lightweight sweaters or cardigans are great for the office, even in the summer when the air conditioning is blasting.

Shoes: It's best to wear closed-toe heels that aren't too high and are easy to walk in. Loafers, mules, and similar flats are also acceptable options.
